Heel Pain in the Morning? It Might Be Plantar Fasciitis: Here’s What to Know

Do you wake up with a sharp pain in your heel that fades as the day goes on? You might brush it off as stress or tired legs, but this could be a condition called Plantar Fasciitis.

It is  one of the most common causes of foot pain, especially for women who spend long hours on their feet or wear unsupportive shoes.

What is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar Fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia: a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot and connects your heel bone to your toes. When this band is strained or inflamed, it causes a stabbing pain usually most intense with your first steps in the morning.

We believe fashion should never hurt. That’s why we’ve started stocking stylish yet supportive footwear made to help you walk better and feel better.

Common Symptoms

Sharp heel pain in the morning or after rest

Pain that lessens with movement but returns after sitting

Tenderness at the bottom of your heel

Discomfort when climbing stairs or standing for long periods

Causes & Risk Factors

Wearing flat or unsupportive shoes

High-impact activities like running or standing for hours

Being overweight

Tight calf muscles

Age (most common between 40–60 years)

How to Manage Plantar Fasciitis

Switch to supportive shoes: Look for cushioned soles, arch support, and shock-absorbing design

Stretch regularly: Focus on your calves and the arch of your foot

Use orthotic inserts: Especially if you’re flat-footed or have high arches

Limit high-impact activity: Give your feet time to recover

Apply cold packs: To reduce inflammation after a long day
